Participating in Worship

At St. Paul’s, there are many ways in which lay people (non-clergy) can actively participate in the worship service such as:

  • Reader: reading the Scripture appointed for the day
  • Intercessor: Praying the Prayers of the People
  • Voice: singing in the choir
  • Music: utilizing your gifts of music by playing other instruments as part of the ministry of music
  • Chalice Bearers: serving the communion cup
  • Liturgical Party: serving as crucifers or acolytes leading the procession and choir
  • Hospitality: serving as greeters or sides persons
  • Preparation: serving in preparation roles for the service such as serving on the chancel guild
