Life Events: Baptism, Confirmation, Weddings, Funerals

Our lives are a journey, full of ups and downs and milestones. Life brings us many joyful moments, while others are sorrowful. These life events mark our spiritual journeys. At St. Paul the Apostle, we are here to support you in your spiritual journey in whatever way we can. We hope that you will call on our community with regard to any of these life events.

Please contact our Parish Priest, for more information about how we may be able to walk the spiritual journey with you through these life events.

Holy Baptism

Holy Baptism

At St. Paul the Apostle, we encourage your interest in baptism at any age and welcome inquiries from interested adults and/or parents (on behalf of infants and children).

We would be pleased to speak with you about the preparation process and to establish a suitable date for the baptism to occur. Baptisms are held a number of times a year as part of our 10:30 am service of worship.

Thanksgiving for the Gift of a Child

If a family is not ready to make the baptismal promises, or if they wish to defer baptism until the child is able to make her/his or own decision, or when parents simply wish to thank God for the blessing of their child, either born or adopted, a service called Thanksgiving for the Gift of a Child is available.

Confirmation, Reception and Reaffirmation

In confirmation, the promises which were made at baptism are confirmed. Confirmation preparation is offered periodically. Confirmation takes place with the Bishop present.

Many people who were baptized as infants may feel a call, as they become older, to reaffirm their commitment to the church. Adults who return to church after a long absence, and individuals from other Christian denominations who wish to become a member of the Anglican Church may also choose to participate in reaffirming their baptismal vows.

It is also possible to be formally received into the Anglican church which may be of interest if you are new to the Anglican church.

Preparing for your Wedding

Your wedding day is a day filled with blessings. God’s blessing upon the marriage is one of them.

If you wish to be married at St. Paul the Apostle, please contact the clergy as soon as possible before the planned date. We welcome the opportunity to meet with you and explore the ways in which we can be part of your wedding day, and the days that follow as you begin your new life together as a married couple.

Funeral

The death of a loved one is always a difficult time. We are here to help with spiritual counselling, prayer, and support. We can also assist you in planning a service that honours a life well lived.

If a loved one has just died and you need our help, please contact our Parish Priest immediately.
